The hospital authorities received 600 pieces of personal protective equipment, 1,000 sanitisers, and 4,000 KN95 masks from the Postal Department’s mobile finance wing.
At the university, Nagad executive director Md Shafayet Alam handed over the items to BSMMU vice-chancellor professor Md Sharfuddin Ahmed.
‘In this epidemic, donating such presents for the safety of physicians and nurses is a great effort by Nagad,’ Md Sharfuddin Ahmed remarked, thanking Nagad for its initiative. These personal protective equipment will assist us and, without a doubt, safeguard our physicians and nurses. He also expressed the hope that Nagad will continue to engage in similar initiatives in the future.’
Nagad executive director Shafayet stated that every member of Nagad was delighted to be associated with such a distinguished organization as BSMMU.
He promised the BSMMU authority that similar initiatives would continue in the future, and he also asked the authority to include Nagad in its social welfare efforts.
The event was also attended by BSMMU pro-VC (administration) professor AKM Mosharraf Hossain, pro-VC (academic) professor Mohd Zahid Hussain, pro-VC (research & development) professor Muhammad Rafiqul Alam, director (hospital) Brigadier General Md Nazrul Islam Khan, and treasurer professor Mohammed Atiqur Rahman.
Among those present were Nagad head of external affairs retired lieutenant colonel Md Kousar Soukat Ali, head of LEA retired lieutenant colonel Mohammad Hasan-Ur-Rashid Been Mosharrof, general manager LEA retired DIG M Mahbub Alam, and deputy general manager of external affairs retired squadron leader Asma Alamgir.
